Balearics receive more tourists in July than any other Spanish region

Although numbers ultimately didn’t surpass those of 2019 as many had predicted, Balearics did receive 2,273,064 foreign tourists in July according to the Frontur report, ony 71,040 less than 2019. This made the islands the most popular destination for foreign tourism in Spain with over 25 percent of the national total. Catalonia, the second most popular destination, received 21.8 percent of the total.

Interestingly, the UK took the top spot for tourist nationality despite Brexit complications. British tourists represented 27 percent of all foreign tourists, followed by Germans at 25 percent. This is a change from previous years. In 2019, 780,000 more Germans than Brits visited the Balearic Islands.

Nevertheless, Germans remained the dominant tourist segment on Mallorca specifically. Tourists from the UK were more likely to travel to Ibiza or Menorca.
