Sant Sebastiá festivities begin in Palma

Palma will celebrate its patron saint, Saint Sebastian, on Friday, January 20, 2023, with the primary festivities taking place the night of Thursday, January 19. However, after two years of canceled events due to the pandemic, the city, itching for a party, has planned over a week of activities starting on the 14th. Specifically, the holiday is inaugurated with El Drac de na Coca i la flama de la festa in Plaça des Cort.

There will be an extensive program of events including concerts, magic shows, plays and other cultural activities. The main festivities, the traditional Revetla de Sant Sebastiá will take place on the evening of the 19th with concerts in various squares all over Palma and bonfires for barbecues.

However, this year’s headliner is the Mallorcan Rock Català group Antònia Font. They will play a free concert in Son Fusteret on January 28 at 8 pm.

Altogether, the Sant Sebastiá festivities will cost the City of Palma nearly €1.1 million, over €300,000 of which is earmarked specifically for the Antònia Font show.
