Transports de les Illes Balears (TIB) plans to make travel on the three Mallorcan train lines totally free from September 1 through the end of the year. The Consell de Govern approved the proposal today. This represents a change in policy after Spanish President Pedro Sánchez initially announced that Spain’s free train plan would not extend to Mallorca.
Additionally, bus tickets will receive a 50% discount on top of any discount already received for young riders, retirees, large families, etc. This discount is only relevant for TIB trains and buses, not EMT buses in Palma or the train to Sóller.
To take advantage of this program, whether for the trains or buses, you must have a TIB card, known as la tarjeta intermodal. If you don’t already have one, you can get them at the TIB stations in Palma, Inca, Manacor and Alcudía in addition to the information centers in Calviá, Marratxí and Llucmajor.
